JAC Set to Enter Australia's Electric Ute Market with the T9

According to Chinese publication Autohome, JAC will unveil a revised electric version of its Hunter model, which will be known as the JAC T9 in Australia.

The electric T9 was previously showcased at the 2023 Guangzhou motor show, but the upcoming unveiling will provide a closer look at its production-ready form.

JAC has expressed its intention to introduce the electric T9 in Australia, with plans initially set for a June 2024 launch.

However, CarExpert reports that JAC does not have a confirmed timeline for the electric T9’s local release.

In the meantime, the turbo-diesel T9 is expected to arrive in the second quarter of 2024.

The JAC T9 electric ute is said to feature a dual-motor all-wheel-drive system and a generous driving range of up to 500km, thanks to its 88kWh lithium iron phosphate battery pack.

Compared to the Ford Ranger Wildtrak, the JAC T9 measures larger in length, width, and height.

The electric T9 will join the LDV eT60 as one of the few fully electric utes available in Australia.

Priced from $92,990, the LDV eT60 is currently the most expensive electric ute on the market.

JAC’s turbo-diesel T9, on the other hand, will come equipped with a range of impressive features, including a 10.4-inch infotainment touchscreen, wireless smartphone charging, and heated and power-adjustable front seats.

BYD, another Chinese automaker, also has plans to enter the Australian market with a plug-in hybrid ute in 2024, followed by an all-electric version in 2025.
