Tougher-Looking LDV D90 SUV Set to Hit Australian Showrooms in 2024

LDV Australia is gearing up to release an updated version of its popular D90 SUV, featuring a more rugged aesthetic. Anticipated to arrive in local showrooms in 2024, the new model will come with various engine options and seating configurations.

LDV Australia has exciting plans for its D90 SUV, with the release of a tougher-looking model scheduled for 2024. This updated version will come in four new-look variants, offering customers more options to choose from. While the specific details are yet to be confirmed, the current model is expected to be available with both petrol and diesel engines, as well as seating configurations for five, six, or seven passengers.

The upcoming D90 models will be powered by a bi-turbo diesel 2.0-litre four-cylinder engine paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission. Interestingly, the engine outputs listed in the documents slightly differ, with one variant producing 158.5kW and the other 160kW. The former matches the current Australian-spec D90 diesel, while the latter is comparable to LDV’s Chinese-market version that incorporates a 48V mild-hybrid system. Additionally, the new mild-hybrid diesel will offer a torque of 500Nm, surpassing the current Australian-market diesel’s 480Nm.

In terms of dimensions, the updated D90 will see a slight increase in size compared to its predecessor. It will measure 5046mm in length, 2016mm in width, and 1870mm in height. This makes it 41mm longer and 84mm wider, but 5mm lower. The wheelbase, however, remains the same at 2950mm. The ground clearance will be raised from 200mm to 220mm, improving its off-road capabilities. To enhance its rugged appearance, the new models will feature flared wheel arches and a more aggressive front fascia, boasting slimmer headlights and a larger grille.

Inside the updated D90, drivers and passengers will be treated to an array of exciting new features. The dashboard will showcase a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system and a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, adding a touch of modernity to the cabin. The interior will also be equipped with sturdy metal-look grab handles on both sides of the centre console, as well as one on the passenger side of the dash. These handles not only serve a practical purpose but also contribute to the vehicle’s rugged aesthetic.

When it comes to performance and capabilities, the new D90 will not disappoint. It will introduce a new all-terrain system with various fixed terrain modes and combination modes, providing drivers with flexibility in different driving conditions. Locking differentials and a creep mode will further enhance off-road capability. While specific features may vary by market, Chinese models of the D90 offer additional options such as a panoramic sunroof, adaptive LED headlights, color-adjustable ambient lighting, a surround-view camera, and power-adjustable front seats with heating, ventilation, and massage functions.

In terms of sales, LDV’s current D90 has been performing exceptionally well in the Australian market. As of September, the company has sold 2569 units, surpassing competitors like the Toyota Fortuner and SsangYong Rexton. With its impressive sales figures and the upcoming release of the tougher-looking D90, LDV is establishing itself as a strong contender in the SUV segment.
