Frontline Cars has made waves in the automotive industry with their innovative restomod creations. Their latest project involves transforming the iconic MGB into a fully electric vehicle. The result is the electric Bee and Bee GT models, which offer a nostalgic driving experience with a modern twist. These electric restomods feature an electric motor with 83kW of power and 219Nm of torque, paired with a five-speed manual gearbox. This combination allows for a thrilling ride with smooth acceleration and the ability to rev up to 9000rpm.

The standout feature of the electric MGB restomods is the Hyper 9 100V electric motor. This motor is designed to replicate the torque characteristics of a traditional combustion engine, giving drivers a familiar and engaging driving experience. Frontline Cars claims that the Bee can go from 0 to 100km/h in just 8.8 seconds, showcasing its impressive performance capabilities.

While the Bee and Bee GT resemble their classic counterparts, there are a few differences due to their electric nature. Unlike an internal combustion engine, these electric restomods cannot be stalled, and they can start and stop in any gear. This unique feature allows for a seamless driving experience with the ability to heel-and-toe downshift or exclusively drive in second or third gear. Additionally, the electric MGB restomods come equipped with a 40kWh battery that offers a claimed range of 225km. With a 7kW charger, the battery can be fully recharged in approximately five hours.

Not only do the electric restomods from Frontline Cars deliver an engaging driving experience, but they also pay homage to the original design. On the exterior, the styling remains largely unchanged, featuring the timeless appeal of Dunlop racing wheels. Inside the cabin, the tachometer has been replaced with a power delivery gauge, providing information on power usage and energy recuperation. The fuel gauge has also been substituted with a range readout, keeping drivers informed of their remaining driving distance.

Frontline Cars founder and chief engineer Tim Fenna expressed their commitment to creating a vehicle that captures the essence of the Frontline drive and ethos. The electric MGB restomods embody this vision, offering a pleasurable driving experience without compromise. Deliveries for these electric beauties are set to begin in 2024, and Frontline Cars will also provide electric conversion options for existing customers.

In addition to the electric offerings, Frontline Cars presents the LE60 model as part of their restomod lineup. Taking things up a notch from its predecessor, the LE50, the LE60 showcases a powerful 4.8-litre Rover V8 engine. With 279kW of power and 400Nm of torque, this petrol-powered beast delivers an exhilarating driving experience. The LE60 features a Tremec five-speed manual gearbox, limited-slip differential, and bespoke suspension provided by Nitron. With a 50:50 weight distribution and a lighter weight of 1122kg, the LE60 promises a dynamic and thrilling ride for petrol enthusiasts.
