Genesis GV80 SUV Gets a 2024 Update with Increased Prices and New Packages

Can the 2024 Genesis GV80 solidify its place in the Australian luxury SUV market amidst strong rivals?

Genesis has recently announced an update for the 2024 model year of its flagship SUV, the GV80. With changes in pricing and packages, let’s take a closer look at what’s new.

The starting price for the 2024 Genesis GV80 now exceeds $100,000, reflecting a premium offering in the luxury SUV segment.

Unfortunately, the 2.5-litre turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine options are no longer available for the GV80. These models were popular, accounting for a significant 25% of GV80 sales.

However, customers can still choose between the 3.5-litre V6 turbo-petrol and 3.0-litre inline-six turbo-diesel engines. It should be noted that the inline-six turbo-diesel engine may be discontinued globally.

In addition to the engine changes, the remaining GV80 models have experienced a $2030 price increase. Genesis Australia explains that this increase is due to rising manufacturing and transport costs.

With these updates in pricing and availability, the 2024 Genesis GV80 range now starts at $105,700 for the 3.0-litre inline-six turbo-diesel engine option, and $110,200 for the 3.5-litre turbocharged V6 petrol engine option.

It’s worth mentioning that any GV80 orders placed from September 1 onwards will be subject to the new pricing. However, existing customer orders will be honored at the pre-update pricing, even if delivery occurs after September 1.

Despite these changes, Genesis Australia has assured that there haven’t been any alterations to the vehicle’s specifications. This means that customers can still expect the same features and technology in the GV80.

For those looking to add more luxury to their GV80, Genesis offers two packages. The $10,500 Luxury Package includes a range of features such as reverse parking collision avoidance, smart parking assist, and Nappa quilted leather upholstery.

For an additional $13,500, customers can opt for the 6-seat Luxury Package, which includes all the features from the previous package along with second-row bucket seats and dual 9.2-inch touchscreens.

Furthermore, customers can choose to upgrade their GV80 with a $2000 matte paint option that is exclusively available in combination with the Luxury Package.

While the GV80 has seen moderate sales success, it has faced tough competition from other luxury SUVs in the Australian market. In terms of sales figures, the Audi Q7, BMW X5, Land Rover Defender, Mercedes-Benz GLE wagon, and Volvo XC90 have outperformed the GV80.

Looking ahead, Genesis has plans to expand the GV80 range with a coupe SUV variant, as hinted by the GV80 Coupe Concept. Reports also suggest that a new flagship mild-hybrid twin-turbo petrol V6 may join the GV80 lineup in the future.
