Speculations about the production version of the Hyundai N Vision 74 rolling lab concept have been circulating for months. However, recent comments from the head of Hyundai N indicate that there may still be hope for this retro-looking coupe.
Hyundai N vice president, Till Wartenberg, has expressed his personal desire to see the N Vision 74 rolling lab concept on the streets in the near future. He did mention, though, that there are still ongoing discussions regarding its feasibility.
Hyundai Motor Company America previously stated that they have no plans to put the model into commercial production. However, the recent comments from the head of Hyundai N suggest that there may still be a chance for this concept to become a reality.
The N Vision 74 rolling lab concept was first unveiled in July last year, alongside the RN22e rolling lab concept. It is an electric car with a hydrogen range extender and boasts retro styling.
The concept features dual rear-mounted electric motors that generate over 500kW of power and 900Nm of torque. It also has a hydrogen fuel stack capable of producing 95kW to charge the battery. The top speed is claimed to be over 250km/h.
With a 62.4kWh battery and 800W fast-charging capability, the N Vision 74 concept offers a driving range of over 600km. It also has a 4.2kg hydrogen tank that can be refueled in just five minutes.
While the N Vision 74 concept pays homage to the original Pony Coupe concept from 1974, it incorporates motorsports-inspired design elements such as a front splitter, wheel arches, aero disc wheels, rear diffuser, and a large rear wing.
If a production version of the N Vision 74 is released, it is expected that some of these design elements may be toned down.
